Speedway

Purchased a speedway plasma cutter about a year ago. I know they are cheap but damn, I only used the thing 3x before it goes out. Now Im trying to find parts for this thing. It went out as we were cutting out a qtr panel and hit some tar and bondo then it went zap. My friend said his done the exact same thing when his hit the bondo. What gives? Where can I find Parts?

My Harbor Freight one did the same thing right after I bought it. Called them up and they knew exactly what it was, a main power transforming switch. They immediately sent me a knew one and I have been merrily cutting along for many years. Point is, have you called Speedway?

No havent been able to find a number for speedway. Did they send you a new unit or just the part, because from what i've researched the power supply cant be repaired. Only the torch parts can be replaced is this true?

Speedway - 402-323-3200. Or you can email them at sales@speedwaymotors.com

In my experience Speedway is pretty good about taking care of their customers. And their sales reps are knowledgeable. Your warranty might be up...but they still might be able to do something for you

The Speedway Plasma cutter that you have is in no way connected with SpeedwayMotors. That Plasma cutter is manufactured for and sold by Homier. Just go to www.homier.com and e-mail thier customer service dept. They have always done me right in the past.

Yes that power unit is like a big Bakelite breaker switch that screws to the chassis. There are three cables in and three out. Really easy to change. Everything else in the unit should be fine, that thing is the heart of it.

Does anyone know what the differences between the two are? The only difference I see is about $100 bucks.

Speedway plasma cutter

Sorry to hear the bad news about the Plasma cutter. I also am looking for parts and ran across a web site and here is a cut and past of what they have to say.

If you have purchased one of these 30 amp plasma cutters, we have a complete torch consumable inventory. To the best of our knowledge there are no repair parts or service for the power supply, it is a "throw-away" machine! They are imported from China and should be considered "no deposit -no return"!. Note if you have this unit and it become unserviceable-keep the torch. The Alpha 3 torch is one of the most popular plasma cutting torches in the world.

This is discuraging to say the least. Even though the plasma cutter is cheap by plasma cutter standards they still cost a lot of hard earned dollars.
