spell checker added

A spell checker has been added to the board. After you enter your post, simply use the "Spell Check" button towards the bottom of the screen, as indicated in the screenshot below:

Misspelled words can be replaced via suggestions from a dropdown menu, or manually. The dictionary is large, and contains many automotive proper nouns. We can also customize the dictionary to add additional words. If you guys want, we can also add the spellchecker to PM's.

The spell checker is in a test phase right now. The standard warning about bugs applies. If you find 'em, report 'em. Either in this thread, or in a new thread in the Hotrodders Q&A forum.

Additionally, you can use the spell checker as a stand-alone program whenever you want to check spelling, and you have access to the web. Simply go to http://hotrodders.com/spell .

Thanks to everyone who suggested this. willys36@aol.com was the most recent (and the only one I remember right now!), but I know we've had other people suggest this one too.

Many thanks too to the GNU Project, and the Free Software Foundation for making this one easy and free .

Jon. The spell checker is not correctly addressing contractions for me. Does anyone else have this problem?
For didn't...it goes....(didn) and then puts the 't outside of the correction area!

OK, thanks for testing everyone. I've just worked on the contraction problem, and I've made some other code alterations.

Please try again, and let me know exactly what happens.

Troy -- was it a thumbs-up smilie that you wanted? You can look around at http://mysmilies.com/ , if you like, and let me know if you see any smilies that you want to add to the board.

Doesn't recognize the word "Rodders"! Also, I checked a fairly long paragraph and it sort of locked up - made the changes in the editing screen but wouldn't transfer them to the text. It left me in an interim window asking me to wait. Otherwise, it has been working ok on many other posts.
