i am trying to find out if the rear output shaft on a 700r4 is the same as a 4l60e.

From what I've read yes they are.

the splines are the same 27 count for a yoke , if that is the question.

The 700r4 shaft will have a governor gear teeth on it, the 4l60e shaft will not

The only difference is that the 700 has a governor gear and the 4L60E does not have a governor gear. Both have 27 splines.
