Can annyone tell me how to split the manifold on my 62 nova, I know that there are cast headers but I want to try splitting it my self first

I have seen some but think the cast items are more desirable. The way most home made ones are done is to cut the manifold in half on either side of the existing outlet..then make two caps for the cut openings. Next cut a hole in the one without the exhaust pipe and weld in another exhaust outlet. The caps are welded onto the cutout created openings. I thought they looked like **** but to each his oun..the pre cast one are really nice but may be expensive.

You are far better off getting manifolds that are specifically made that way. Making what was called a split manifold, out of the stock single unit was a cobbled up job at best.
