Spot Repair

I'm working on repairing a 93 Ford Taurus. The car has some small dents and scratches on one of the doors and I am wanting to remove the door....do a little dent repair and then just paint 1/2 of the door where I fix the dents.

Heres my question: I am wondering what the odds are of me being able to spray the repair area (upper 1/2 of door) and have it look comparable to the original factory job on the bottom 1/2 of the door and the rest of the car? I would like to use a single stage urethane the same paint code as the original color.....its a silver metallic.

I havent done "spot repair" painting before so If my odds are low that I would be able to do it successfully....then i will just forget about fixing it since this is just a daily driver car.

You odds of a successful match are 0.000000%. That is a real art and takes years to perfect. I have tried to do patches using paint form the original paint job and failed. A door isn't so big that you would be WAY ahead repainting the whole thing. Absolutely no advantage to trying to skimp to only part of the door.

First, I cannot imagine removing a door to repair some small scratches or dents. Second, as Willis said, not much chance of getting that good of a match, specially with silver.
