Spot Welder Question???

I was wondering if the spot welders on ebay would be worth the money for replacing the floors on my car, or at least the spots I can get to like the inner and outer rockers? Would something only running 120 run more of a risk of producing cold welds? Just wondering what you guys think.

Thanks Kevin

Working, The problem I have had when trying to use those things is access to some weld areas, they work pretty good but I have found that a MIG is much more versatile.

I see you are from my old home town but I have not been back since 1969.

re: Spot Welder Question???

Thanks for the reply oldred.Theres alot of places on the floors top and bottom I would be able to use one on and alot I would have to mig. I'd like to at least spot weld the seam where the inners and outer rockers join as well as were the rear floors get welded to the rear full floor brace. I just hope the welds will hold up so i'd like to take a few old piece of the floors, spot weld them and do a destruct test at my shop just to make sure. I can always put it back on ebay if its crap. So oldred, your from Redford or the Detroit area?

Kevin

The spot welder I used was a 110 volt model and like 110 volt MIGs you kind of have to give it a rest occasionally.

I was in Redford most of my younger years but spent the last two years at Walled Lake. I spent '68-69 prowling Woodward and Telegraph, I was having more fun than I realized at the time

re: Spot Welder Question???

I asked around at work last night and a buddy of mine has one he's going to let me borrow, says it works great. I'll try it out when I get it.

You should make it back here for the Woodward dream cruise this year, its quite a show but to commercial and imports have started to take over but still a good time. Thanks for the help Oldred,

Kevin
