Spray Gun question, FLIII

I have a question about the Finish-line 3 spray gun. One is in shipment to me at this time and a local painter/hobbyist told me the FL-3's have a bad habit of clogging with both primer and finish paint(with the proper tips). He told me when I start using it to use about 10% more reducer and add coats to prevent it from clogging up. Anyone else have this problem or heard of it??

Thanks
David

Nope. Been using one for 3 years now and NEVER had anything like that UNLESS,
I either didn't CLEAN it GOOD after use or was using the WRONG reducer.

Does you buddy use paint STRAINERS??
Even with PRIMER??

THAT is the #1 reason gun's jamb up.

People don't strain the paint or primer. Yes,Primer as some of the high solids stuff will clump and that will stop a gun cold in it's tracks.

Is he using the right tip size for the product being sprayed?
1.3-1.4 for most base's & clear, 1.8-2.0 for primer.

The last problem is with the filter in between the cup and fluid area.
I pull it out for primer or paint but use it religiously for clear coat.
