Spraying One Stage Paint with Flakes

I have sprayed NASON one stage paint (white in color) and it came out better than I expected. I took my time and came out with only 2 runs. I have a Harbor Freight HVLP (purple in color) gun with a 1.4 tip. I was wondering what i need to spry one stage paint with a little metal flake in it. Do I need to buy a new gun/tip/etc or can I proceed as normal? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Also:
When painting just a section of a panel is it necessary to tape the rest of the area off? I have done this in the past and it left a defining line when the tape was pulled. Is it possible to simply spray the area with no tape and have it look better? The aren't any windows/chrome/rubber/etc in the surrounding area.

Regards,
jchiesa

Painting a panel with a single stage solid color is alot easier than blending a panel with a metallic single stage. Base coat with clear is a better choice.

If it's a standard metallic, not to be confused with 'flake,The 1.4 will do fine.
The large custom metalflake will need a larger tip, depending on it's size.Your paint jobber should be able to advise you on which set.

You'll need to define the second part some more.
What kind of paint?
Is this a graphic or such?

The best way is to do the complete panel and melt it into any sections that connect. For example if your painting the rear quarter panel and it connects to the roof also, do not tape off this section. Paint the panel and 1/2 of the section that leads to the roof. Then clean the gun and use 95% enamal reducer and 5% paint, then lightly spray this area, it will melt the paint in. Allow to dry, as long as you DONT wet sand this section, you should be able to buff it out nice without seeing a paint line.

I use house of color mini falkes with a 1.4 tip
