Spring sag and correction

I have a 33 chevy coupe with a ford 8.8 rear. I bought a new set of springs from Posies, and one sags about 1 inch. I put it on both sides and it sags the same.....either one spring is weak, or one is too strong. Anyway, Posies may or may not help me....they havent told me yet, but my question is this. With a 33 chev, the rear fenders are tapered from front to back. About 6 inch clear in the front to about 12 in the back, so any tire you put on it sticks out. I currently have the rear of the car about 3 inchs high ( above the tires), and have put air shocks on it.....rides terrible. What can I do to limit the travel down to about 2.9 inches, but maintain the ride height that I have now......if the rear sags, tires hit the fenders.

Thanks

You will need some bump stops attached to the frame..when the axle hits the bump stops that is the limit of the travel..those are easy to find in the wrecking yards..local pick-a-part..

Thanks

I will have to fab the bump stops, cause they will end up having to be about 5 inches high.....from the frame to axle is about 8 inch,..vice versa from axle to frame.......what do you think that I can do about the solid ride.....using air shocks to maintain the height.....have you ever used coil-overs with leaf springs?? I just dont have the energy to convert this rear to a ladder bar or 4 link, so I have to keep the springs, and I cant flip the axle.....too tooo high then, so .................................any ideas??

I would talk to Posies and ask for another set of springs ... I would get my tires under the fenders ( like the coupe above ) and then get the coupe to sit like this one ... without air shocks ...

Real NICE looking coupe

Just my nickel ...

spring sag

Ok, I talked to posies today, and they are sending me another spring....either one of the two I have is sagging, or it is too strong....anyway, I will get the spring this week, and over the weekend I will try it out. I still have a problem of the car sitting about one ince too low, so I will have to use the air shocks or something else..... here is the car sitting with air shocks..what do you think??

Well ... you asked ...
I think the tires on the rear are too tall and the car sits a LITTLE HIGH ...

Just me ...
