SS Stripes

Ok so I have an El Camino with a 350 in it. It's a pretty sweet ride, but the colors all wrong. It's blue. I'm going to get in painted as soon as I can afford it, but I wanted to get tuxedo black with white SS hood stripes. problem is, my el camino isn't an ss. is it bad form to paint the stripes on there anyways?

So what year is the Elcamino? The cowl induction hood is the one that has the raised reverse kind of air scoop on it. One of the biggest mistakes I see anyone do when they paint SS stripes on the hood of a Chevelle is for some reason, one side is often the width of the fine line tape off to one side compared to the other side. I have no idea why but I've seen it very often.

If your not sure if you have an SS hood, look at the hood on this site.

the body and chassis are 72 but there are basically parts from the entire third generation on it. i think the steering column is out of a 71 and i know the seats are out of a 69

Oh, Okay, well at least now you have a picture of what they do look like. Some hood came without the vent, they are still SS hood and do look better than just a standard Chevelle hood, especially with the stripes.
