"BAMMM" usually means two or more objects are coming together when they shouldn't (that is unless your name is Emeril - bad joke, I know)

You mentioned putting new shocks on - - did you stay with the OEM shock? If not then your new shocks could be bottoming out??

You might want to check your spring hangers and everything that they are connected with or to.

Can you get the "bammm" by just hand bouncing the car standing still???

shouldn't be too bad but I'm not that familiar with the 85 monte - - - I'm thinking you should be able to find out where the slack is by feeling with your hands while someone bounces the car, but maybe I'm wrong.

hate to be the bearer of bad news but the bushings are more difficult to change than one would expect. BUT not out of the realm of possibility.

you going to need a hydraulic press, maybe a torch and a lot of patience. its also important to not crush the A arms or trailing arms. I have a 1984 Monte Carlo SS and so far I've replaced all of the busing with polyurethane, all the ball joints, the rag joint in the steering column, springs, and shocks. I also boxed my lower control arms and tightened the steering box. it handles better now but its a big car.
