stall converter questions

I am thinking about installing a 2k/2.2k stall converter. I have never drivin a car with one so I am wanting to know a couple things. How does the ride differ over a stock converter, how much does it help the launch, and will the car need to be tunned diff after putting one in?
the setup is 350, bored .030 over, performer rpm intake, 2.02 heads, mild comp cam 224/ 230 @ .050", 650 edelbrock thunderseries carb, msd 6al ignition, msd pro bil distributor with blaster 2 coil. th350 trans with shift kit, matallic clutches and racing sprag/drum. 3.73 out back

I had the same concerns before I put my 2600 stall in mine. all went well except it actually made my car fall flat on its face. because my gear was to tall. so you might want to make sure you have a good rear gear setup. I went from a 3.00 to a 3.80 and it launches better than ever. cant even tell a difference around town in normal driving. I also didnt need to retune anything. but without the right rear gear combo it sucked. good luck Im sure someone else will chip in some good info. with more technical advice.
