You didnt tell us how big your cam is.
You might need more initial timing, or a looser converter. 2000 stall isn't much over stock.
Big cams don't make much vacuum at idle. When you advance the timing at idle, it will increase the RPM's slightly. Watch to make sure you don't have too much when it goes to full advance.
You might have too much curve. I hope you have a timing advance light with a dial on it.
On my distributor, I just unplugged my vacuum advance. I don't use it.
Initial is 18deg and full advance is 36 just on the weights.
My cam isn't that big, but it's pretty big for a hydraulic flat tappet.
