Stall Vs 400 torque converter
I have a 350 turbo trans. with a shift kit and a 288 cam. and i was told by one person in need a stall and another person a 400 torque converter, i think the cam. is to much for my truck. It has a 1975 350 in it. What should i put in it the stall or the 400, why and what is the diff. between the the 2 becasue a stall is a torque converter too right?

Thanks. I called around and i found 2 stalls one is a B&M 1900-2200 for 130.00 and the other is 2200-2500 for 175.00 not sure on the brand. I think im going to go with the B&M. Does that sound good.

Do you know the cam's Duration @.050" lift?? Part # etc..
What rear gear ratio does the Truck have?? Need a little more Info. Im' not crazy about B&M converters, Hughes would be a better choice, little more expensive but, worth it. |

I could not tell you anything about the cam, sorry. one bad thing about not putting the parts in myself. Whats bad about the B&M i dont want to spend that kind of money for it to break on me, the gear ratio is the standard for that truck i ask about that and he said he did not change it. he did lower the rear end, all i know about the cam is its a Comp cam 288. and is there any thing i should change while i have the trans out.

If this is the 86 C10, alot of those truck came with the TH350C trans with lockup converter. The 350 & 350C use different converters, 350C will have an electrical plug on left side.
I've had bad luck with B&M converters in the past. Rear gear ratio is probably 3.08, not sure about cam size but, if it's 288 Advertised Duration you may need closer to 2800rpm stall converter. Just a quess. |
