Standard Vacuum Line Sizes?

My project truck is an hour away, but i'm trying to purchase some silicone vacuum lines to install. Are there standard line sizes (3/8, 3/16) or is it all dependent upon the carb, etc used in the build.

Also, should I be purchasing a vacuum line 1/32 smaller than the fitting to ensure a snug fit?

Thanks,

-A

When I needed vacuum lines, I would measure the nipples with my 6" dial caliper and buy that size line. Never bought anything for anything that wasn't measured and thought-out first.

But that would require doing it the right way....

I was hoping there was a standard, but you are correct that measuring is the best way to go.

From what I have seen so far for really old style stuff such as hooking up stuff to a carburetor there is a 1/8 inch 1/4 inch and 3/8 inch size rubber hoses that you get at your auto part store but there other sizes too but those are the basic sizes to star off with. For example I use a 1/8 inch hose for my vacuum advance and and a 1/4 inch for my transmission vacuum modulator and 3/8 for pcv and brake booster.
