starter bolts

hi i bought a mini starter (staggered) for my SBC thats in my s10. after like 3 or 4 starts the bolt come loose just enuff so it doesnt make contact with the flex plate. the holes arent stripped out i can tighten them ( dont have a torque wench ) with the 1/2 drive, so they are tight.but dont want to snap them off. ill get a torque wench this weekend but what should these be torqued at so they dont come loose . these bolts came with the starter

If it is a gm style mini it takes special bolts 10mm shank 3/8 thread bolt. They were designed for 10 mm mount bolt which gm switched to when they went all metric on us.A standard starter bolts shank is slightly to small allowing the starter to wiggle around causing this problem.

No matter what you do include the proper torque of the bolts as part of the fix ....
