Starter clicking?

Hey guys

This is my first post here on the Forum, and I have a problem.

I was attempting to start my 1977 Dodge Adventurer( with a 318), and when turned the key, the starter (I think) would sound like its turning (could see the fan moving) for a split second, and then it made this tttttttttttttttt ticking noise!!!!!

I would leave the key turned full, and it would still make the ticking noise. I,m trying to figure out what is wrong. It has started all the time until now.

Thanks,

Jerry

Ok, the battery is new. I checked it, and the + terminal of the battery was loose, might have to do with it somewhat. Ill probably just charge it up.
