I Have A Race Car,I Tried To Start It When I Did It Is Making A grinding Noise Like Its Chewing The Teeth Off The Flywheel,What Could Be Causing This Problem
First check to see if the starter is loose. I ran dirt cars and they were low and bumped the headers and starters on the ground. Also check to see if the engine can be turned either by hand or by using a large screwdriver on the flywheel, try to turn a whole round, if it won't turn the news is worse than a starter problem, the engine will problably have to be looked into after observation of everything that's hooked to the engine. Of course, if the starter is loose you've more than likely won this round. Also while your at the starter check the alignment before anything else is done and don't try showing anyone else how it sounds unless you've exhausted all your checking and found nothing. It won't take long to kill your flywheel, which leads you to having to pull the trans or engine. LUCK to ya! Bob
