Starter Issues

I am in need of some help with an issue I am having with my cars starter (or I should say starterS as I have been blowing them out at a rapid pace.) I currently am running a 350 chevy small block in my '40 Chevy and have had to replace the starter upwards of six times in the last two years. I get a few good cranks from a new one and then all hell breaks loose and it starts with that horrible grinding. I have replaced two myself and to make sure it wasn't me doing something wrong have had two seasoned mechanics replace the other times. Also, I have gone through two flywheels. At this point I am hearing some chatter from folks saying that my block may be stretched or warped. Does anyone have experience with this or know this to be a possibilty. The block has never had a high amount of torque applied to it that I could see it being warped, but who knows. Any help/guidance is much apprecited!

How often do you start your car with low voltage?
Is it a stock built engine?

My volt gauge typically reads a shade over 12 when I initially turn the key to the start position. It will dip to around 10 when turning the ignition and then back up to over twelve once the car is running. It is a stock engine build, no radical cam, headers or anything like that.

You sure you have the correct flywheel on there? And on the correct way?

Are you using the correct knurled starter bolts??

Are you using the factory back brace on the starter??

Are you shimming the starter for correct tooth gap??

"Block warping" is a non-issue, don't listen to anybody who suggests this.
