starter problem ? timing problem?

Why would my car start up fine when its cold and when its up to temp it seems as though the starter cant turn over the engine. It will spin really slow and fire right up but it almost seems as though the engine gets fired backwards about half a revolution. It spins really slow after that but it starts pretty quick.
I have 25 degrees of timing on a 406 with 9.5-1 compression. The starter is a high torque mini starter .Do i need more timing or a heat wrap for my starter?

try retarding the timing back to 16 degrees and see how that works.
i set my timing to around 16 for the streets and 36 degrees for racing.
the more timing you have the harder it will start when its hot.
besides you dont need that much timing for the streets you'll never use it.
less timing more bottem end and easyer to start when hot, more timing more top end and harder to start when hot.
hope this helps.
