Starter Relay Q's

So I have been given this truck. I know very little about it yet. It is a 95 Ford F-150 with a supercharged 351 C & Auto Trans. There is an issue with it starting. I picked this truck up at a shop where it just got a new transmission put in. There was a note in it when I got in that said if the truck doesn't start jump the starter relay.

I drove it a few time and occasionally had issues with it starting. I would climb under the truck and push in on the wires running from the starter. Then the truck would start.

Well that gets old quick and I will need to address the problem when I start driving it on the reg.

1.) Does it sound like I should just replace the starter relay?

2.) If so is there a particular one I should replace it with or are they universal?

3.) What exactly does it mean to jump the starter relay?

Any insight would be helpful. thanks.
