starting to get some things together
I am trying to get some parts together for the model-a change over. I found 1947 f-1 truck yesterday that should have the pedal assembly brakes front hubs, steering box even though I think I'm using a vega steering box. I need a 4 inch dropped axle may just buy one of these,or have mine done one of my buddys says he knows where to get my own fixed,so get all of these parts and time to get started. Anyone eles out there doing this please ring in on this, any help will be appreciated. Thanks

Welcome to Hotrodders.
I am certain there are a few guys here that have pursued a similar build.
Give them some time to respond to your post.
You can start a photo journal too, we all love pics.
What is your goal...streetrod, one off, pro touring, rat rod....?;)

Great. Showcars are nice , but its more fun to drive them.
I think some of the guys "clip" there older trucks...meaning they put a front suspension under it froma newer truck or car.It makes a better performing steering/handling and braking pakage.
Like use stuff from a late model crown vic for instance, good handling big disc brakes etc.
If you look at the different front end designs you will pick up on one that "just looks right"
Frame width is important and a stong place to make a splice in the right location all facotrs.
Lots of guys use old jaguar parts but to me that sucks. Use something american, jags are heavy, clunky and old school.
Weld a crown vic with a 4.6 up under there....
All kidding aside thou....The chevy s 10 frame is a good width from what I gather, maybe an explorer front would be close too. One with the mounts for a v-8
The 96-97 explorers has a 5.0 multiport with gt 40 heads from the factory, makes a nice powerplant.
For gods sake dont put a chvy in it.

I'm doing that very thing to my buddys ford truck with the crown vic, that thing is going to be bad to the bone.good brakes sitting low it should be cool like the other side of the pillow.
