Question stearing,suspension,upgrade 1946 chevy truck

I want to keep the stock look of my 46 chevy truck (front axle ect.) but I also want it to drive well at highway speed and stop safely too. my name is jamie and I want to thank the owners of this site, for it. Thanks for any help with my truck also.

If you want to run 75 or 80 MPh on the interstate you might want to up date to a mo modern front end. Sub frame a nova or camaro clip. I'm working on a 48 Chevy Sedan Delivery that has a nova subframe with disc brakes and it drives great.

BodymanDave, Thank you very much. I want to let you know more about what I am trying to do.I want to keep the period correct look from the exterior of the truck, not necessarily the correct part but for sure the look, the steering and brakes don't mean that much to me, but I like the axle. As far as speed 60mph for 2hours is good for me. The current max. speed is about 50mph for 30min. Again thank you,
