I am looking for the proper method of adjusting the steering box ona 1948 fleetline chevy

Welcome to the site.

Are you trying to get the slop out of the steering. There is a way to go about it but i think you will have to find the specs. for it first. They only have so much adjustment in them, and if it's not done right I think it will bind up. I know that's not much help, but sometimes after you get one post others will jump in.
It might have a screw on the box with a lock nut, that is the adjustment loosen nut turn screw until play is gone, back off a tad and tighten nut.

I know i need specs But I have no access to them. Anyone knw this info offhand

I don't know if you got that last sentence, but do you have a screw with a lock nut on it, on the box, if so that is your only adjustment for that other wise you will have to get a different box. And that can be a pain to change. If I may ask, what are you doing. restoring a car or building a rod?
