steering column

I have a 65 impala SS and I am in the process of rebuilding it. I took off the steering wheel for security reasons and I missplaced the wheel nut. I went to the hardware stores but no success, I dont know what the size is or the thread measures, all I know is that its fine thread so please if any info I need to know the exact size to purchase. The column is stock and with NO TILT

I am not sure but I think it is 1/2" fine thread.Nuts are cheap enough so start there and then you will know if it is right or if you need to go up or down.

Go to a Nuts and Bolts store. You probably will not find what you are looking for at a hardware store. Even better, go to an auto salvage yard and you can find one and have more fun doing it.
