Steering Column

So purchased a manual to power steering conversion kit. the direction's say to "take note of the measurement the end of the column shaft to the column bell. this must be maintained with the replacement column shaft " WELL my steering column was out of the car before i had ordered the conversion kit. i've already cut 5 1/2 inches off it... im close, but don't want to go too far.. is there some was to get a measurement or something more sure than my guessing at it ??

Buy some 3/4" wood dowel from your local hardware store. Use that as a mock up for your steering shaft length.
