Steering gearbox replacement-Vega vs F-1??

Of the two steering gear boxes which do you think is the better choice and why? Thanks for the help. I'm trying to make a decision and your valued input would be helpful.

different design.

The vega is designed to work as a cross steer, it's mounted near the front axle. The pick up gear box was mounted along side the engine and is a front to back steer. it depends on which design you want to use.

Vega vs F 1 steering gear box

Thanks. I have both here in my shop. I did study the ratio's too and the Vega has a quicker turn. Either will keep me busy for a few evenings.

adjustable steering

I built my first T bucket 50 years ago. I used the stock pieces from a 39 ford, It was 5 turns lock to lock. It was way to slow steering. I couldn't turn the steering wheel fast enought to get out of a slide when playing in the dirt. I looked at an old dirt modified racer and it had a home made steering pitman arm and spindle mounted drag link arm . They had several tappered holes in each one so they had plenty of adjustment. The next few cars I built I did the same thing. until I decided how many steering wheel turns I wanted for full left to full right lock to lock for later builds.

I have owned 32 Fords with the F-1 box and the Vega box. I much prefer the Vega box. Easier, cleaner to do and drove better.

Just my opinion.
