They are Saganaw pumps, whether the valving will be correct for your set-up is the question. Do you have any details of what steering box, etc. you want to use- is it a Vega box, too?

steering pumps

I have sent the numbers on it to my local ford dealer to find the year and application.

This in not a power steering unit. I think I would rather have a power steering unit in it anyway. Any suggestions?

I'm a bit confused here.
Are you talking about the steering gear box or the steering PUMP? Why would you send GM numbers to Ford?

In any event, if you're building this from scratch- as in you can do whatever you want- why not look into using a rack and pinion steering set-up (Example)? Every rod shop has their version of the venerable Pinto/MII rack steering set-up. They can be had complete from hub to hub or just the individual parts that can be cobbled together to make your own.

Check out Chapter 3. The whole book will help you for that matter.

I'm sorry I confused you, it is a steering box that I found. I was told that it is out of a maverick, but I don't know for sure.
