Steering shaft seal

Hey guys,my buddy is building a 30 Ford coupe. He has mounted the steering column under the dash,it does not use a floormount. His upper Ujoint connects to the steering shaft from the column and a 1" diam shaft continues thru the floorboard and attaches to another Ujoint .What he cannot find is what to use on the floorboard for the 1" shaft to go through.Any ideas ? Thanks Johnny

I was thinking you might use a standard support bearing near the floor on the shaft that goes through the floor, but I have not seen a support bearing for a 1" shaft. Every one I've seen is for a 3/4" shaft.

I assume the steering column does not reach to the floor? If so, how far from the floor is the bottom of the shaft? More details would be very helpful.

Go to Borgeson. www.borgeson.com They have support bearings all sizes as well as steering column floor mounts etc. Anything to do with steering...they got it.

The Borgeson catalog only contains 3/4" support bearings. Wouldn't hurt to call and ask if they have other sizes as an off-catalog item.
