Steering universal joint

Hi,
I reticently install a manual R&P from a well known dealer. When I install the universal joint over the spline shaft on the R&P and tighten the bolt that goes thru the joint, I get a little up and down movement. When I call another large dealer of R&P's about their set up I was told that their joint does not have movement.

Is this movement something I should worry about? Would this movement eventually produce wear on the bolt??

Any help would be appreciated

Thanks in advance
Sam

Yes that is a concern..do some checking to see if you have the correct joint or if the one you have is worn somehow..

According to their tech this joint is recommend for the manual Dodge Omni rack. When I asked about the slight movement up and down he said just tighten it down so it doesn't come off. I asked to talk to someone esle and the answer was the same

The bolt that is torqued runs in a slot on the shaft and if tha tis tight the joint will not come off..
