stickey dash

Hi I'm marilyn I like classic cars and love to watch barrett jackson auctions.
I'm getting a new vehicle 2007 ford escape it has a sticky dash. we asked dealer to make sure it's not sticky (worried damage permanent). went to pick up today and still sticky.
has anyone ever expeienced a sticky dash and what cleaner if any can make the dash not sticky?
I told dealer to have it clean I would not take car today it was not acceptable. That was the one thing i asked him when i put the deposit down can they get the sticky stuff off the dash. NO PROBLEM. either he did not do anything about my request or doesn't know how to fix problem. he said to give him another 24 hrs pick up car tomorrow.

Is there a resolution out there???

Thanks
marilyn j.

Much depends on what's making it sticky. Is it melted candy?, or other edible things that could be stuck to the dash? if that's the case, any good cleaner will or should do the trick. If it's some kind of glue residue or other chemical, then using something like Castrol super clean or ask someone at your local parts house may be helpful.

Some of the earlier cars had a problem with padded dash's degrading and becoming sticky due to the solvents gassing off from the plastic. I have never heard of a car as recent as a 2007 having this problem, so it must be something else making it sticky. I would not accept the car if this cannot be corrected.

the glues in some of the Ford dashes in the newer cars can do that when the glue starts to release.. if it's on a like a fake carbon fiber type of thing, usually center console. that's likely the cause.. the glue starts to come up thru as it releases
