Sticking a temp sensor in a drain plug hole

My TH400 pan has a drain plug. I want to stick a temp sensor in it. I don't see any reason why not, It should seal just fine.. right?

plugging a drain hole

Don't use pipe thread these are tapered and will give a false fit use straight threaded fitting and use tefflon thread tape in it
