Sticky shifter

I have a B&M quick silver shifter. My problem is that to shift into reverse or park you must run shifter down through 1st, 2nd,then drive before you can pull handle up and go to rev. or park. I understand this is how it works, my problem is it sticks or better yet just will not let me go down to first to start this process. If I mess with it a little all starts to work ok. I have lubed the he*^ out of it to no avail. I hope this is clear explaination. Any ideas? Thanks for any help in advance.

pooba,

You might want to run a test to make sure the problem is in the shifter mechanism and not the cable or trans itself. Disconnect the cable at the shifter and then see if the shifter operates the way it ought to. If not, then you've at least eliminated the cable/trans as your problem source.

cboy: you were 100% right. took off the cable and found it was not adjusted correctly, it had pressure on the shifter when it was in park so shifter could not relax and move to a postion where I could move it to next funtion....I know I can't explane it right but point is I know what I'm trying to say and its fixed!!! Thanks a bunch
