stiff brakes wont stop
hello all i recently bought a 1974 f100. well the brakes are super stiff but i have to push the pedal to the floor to even try to stop luckily its a stick so ive been using my gears to help slow me down in this tank of a truck. the man i bought it from said he just recently replaced the rear drums on it. could there be air in the lines causing this problem ? thank you for the response

Dont drive on the street with bad brakes.
If the pedal hits the floor, you have air in the lines. Check the fluid level and bleed all four wheels and report back |
adjustment.
The rear shoes might need to be readjusted, Shoes too loose?
|
yea i planned on bleeding the brakes right away today i just wanted to double check what i thought was the right answer, ive never gone about adjusting shoes can you explain how ?

After further investigation I believe my master and booster are bad in the
Cab with the engine running I can hear air coming out when I apply pressure To the brake pedal |
Hard pedal and hearing air pressure I would assume the booster is shot.
|
yea im thinking so to and im seeing brake fluid on the booster so im going to replace the whole system hopefully when i finish tomorow ill report back and let everyone know how it goes
|
replaced the whole system master and booster bleed the entire system with new fluid now this tank stops like a newer car thank you everyone for your advice
