Stock chevy 350 1970, Horsepower???
i want to know how much horsepower for my 350 chevy block 1970 stock , original have a 2 baril carburator, now i have a 4 baril

A stock 1970 350 2 brl was rated at 250 GROSS hp. A 4 brl with the same (8.5:1) comp and cam was rated at 275 gross hp. Try about 210/220 NET hp on todays money.

I always thought a early 70's chevy passenage car or truck engines made about 175 to 185hp at the wheels.
A friend of mine had a 73 corvette and on the shifter console it said 190hp and 270ftlbs. Not hard to increase power in a sbc. A good set of aftermarket heads, a mild camshaft, a set of headers, and 100 more hp is possible with about the same idle characteristics. |
