Stock 454 stroke is 4", block deck height is 9.8" (true deck is 9.780), rods are 6.135. Find out the piston compression height you'll have it. Half the stroke, rod length, compression distance from the deck height.

You have to actually measure it- who knows if or how many times the block may have been milled.
It can be done w/nothing more sophisticated than a straight edge and feeler gauges. |

My post was assuming the motor was assembled and presumed stock. Figured if it was apart, the OP would know to measure it.

If you're looking for a "how far is the piston down the hole" figure to calculate an estimated CR with, use 0.020"-0.025" for a stock unmilled block and a stock compression height piston.
