stock rear end gear ratio 83 firebird
im looking at new gears 4 my rear end and i dont feel like pulling the diff cover to see what series carrier i have. anyone know the stock ratio for an 83 firebird or better yet what series carrier i have?

You do not have to pull off the cover to figure out what gear ratio you have. Make a mark on both the tire and the gear yoke. Rotate the tire slowly and count how many times the yoke turns.

how do i rotate the tire, with both rear tires off the ground or just one? its a limited slip rear.

Both of them, I would almost bet that you have the 3.08 package. How deep of gear are you looking for?

u nailed it i spun it with one tire up and got a lil over 1.5 turns times 2 is 3.08s. so i guess i got a 2 series carrier thank you!!!!
