Straight / Angle plugs what is the difference ?

hi guys

what is the difference between Straight plugs setup & Angle plugs setup ???

I've read that angle plugs will provide more headers clearance

is there any difference in performance ???

Angle plugs set the spark plug closer to the exhaust valve in the head. You get more efficient ignition there. Most aftermarket companies now have the straight plugs in the corrected location. It all depends on the type of head wether angle or straight plugs will make a difference.

As a rule angle plugs will not grant clearance for your headers. In addition you tend to only see performance increases when using domed pistons, not with flat tops.

You can buy headers that clear with either angle or straight plug heads. I have never heard any difference between dome or flattops.

lluciano77 said this better than I did. Better for me to say you need to check with the seller before you purchase headers to be sure they will clear angle plugs.

Yep it takes special headers for angle plug heads.
Headman built my stainless ones ,and then sent me a set of flanges to get enough room for short plugs on my 69 355 camaro.

All Big Blocks have angle plugs.
