Straight axle - how safe?

I have heard for many years that straight axles are unsafe. Is this true?

I would really like to put a straight axle under my 62 Nova chassis car but not if it will be a safety issue.

This will be a street car that sees a lot of track time.

straight axle

Done right your fine. Just dont expect a perfect ride. We have a straight axle Cyclone and it gets driven to all the shows...she does just fine. Just make sure whoever does it knows what they are doing. Good luck!

Installation for safety reasons is #1.

Design for no bumpsteer is a very close #2.
