Thumbs up straight pipe

hey guys ive been running flowmaster 40's behind my 400 small block chevy and i want it louder i wanna run dual 2 1/4 pipes straight with no mufflers but a freind of mine said i would burn my valves up running straight pipe,is this true?

It can burn the valves if the mixture isn`t richened to compensate for the engines increase in flow. however, if you have tail pipes on your flow masters, whack them off at the mufflers exit, and it`ll be plenty loud.

Well if you want LOUD! then cut those mufflers off. Just dont be suprised if you get a ticket. Ill buy those flowmasters from yah though lol.

if you do leave the mufflers on, and cut the tail pipes off, leave at least a 10" long pipe coming out of the back of the muffler, this will help with exhaust scavenging coming out of the muffler so you dont loose any performance.
