Hi all, 1992 Chevy one ton van,350/350. this van is burning a hole in the top of the rotor,(above the contact arm) but no damage to the cap or coil contact pin. I've changed cap, rotor,wires and plugs,seperately, and all at the same time, using the shotgun method of troubleshooting ! I changed brands of components from jobber junk to GM, and I still eat a rotor in about 6 weeks of normal driving ...
Any body seen this problem before??????????????????

GM has had this problem before, the HEI puts out a lot of spark and in humid or damp conditions can be real rotor eaters, usually you get red dust under the cap also. Make sure the advance weghts are not wearing thru their pivot posts also. I have used Hi-Dielectric rotors and a bit of hi-temp silicone in the area of the burn thru, seems to work.
