A bit more info please.
Is it a stick? And did you say it was a 455 Olds in a truck? What truck ? 2x 4x?
If it's a stick, It could be a throw ~out bearing, or bent finger on the clutch pressure plate.
On both transmissions, it could be a bolt has backed out of anything that rotates, Flexplate/Flywheel, pressure plate/torque converter, and is striking or rubbing something solid.
The Crank could have too much end play.
The Starter could just be hitting the flexplate/flywheel and need adjustment/shimming.
