Hi Guys,
I was wondering how one can go about building a streamliner or a salt flat racer using a four banger. Reason was years back my old man went 122mph in a Chevy four banger at a place called "Verneuk Pan". This is in the western part of South Africa, the same place that Cambell guy tried to break the world speed record Maybe someone has a idea or can point me at websites for information on a chassis for a streamliner. Just for interest sake "verneuk" means roughly to swindle someone.
I am starting to think of something else to do as my old Austin is about halfway finished.

Scroll past the motorcycles and ignore the idiotic animated avatars and you will see a few 4 banger speedsters from streamliners to a Honda 600 and a small pickup.

It looks like a good place for you to start. All of the active LSR sanctioning organizations, (SCTA-BNI, USFRA, DLRA),are represented there as well as the more popular racing venues, Bonneville, Lake Gairdner ,(australia), Muroc, some more I never heard of too. the links section has many of the heavy duty LSR racers on it. Many of the cars that run the salt/dry lakes are ex drag cars modified for LSR use. You might consider that route. A belly tank streamliner would be a perfect way for you to start, They are well suited to 4 cyl power.
Order a rule book from SCTA and you can see what is required for the class of racing you might want to do if you want to participate in an event. Contact some of the racers directly through their websites, Many of those guys are pretty friendly towards rodders who want to get involved in LSR racing. Hope this helps.
