I am driving a 92 with a gen v 454 TBI. It's not bad, but it is only rated at 265 hp. So when you have a 10,000 lb truck the performance is less than stellar. I believe the 98 should have vortec heads on it. (Don't know for sure you should check this out first) They are supposed to be great heads, and will support improvements in power with minor porting. The blocks are already a hyd roller setup. A Cam swap in the neighborhood of a 274 or 284 hr will provide performance improvements. If you have the bucks, a centrifugal supercharger is the easiest way to get dramatic power improvements with fuel injection. The bottom end is fine the way it is to 500 hp.
