I've got a 350 in my '64 gmc truck, which I use in the city for work & such. Bought it last summer with a holley 4160 in it. Recently I've been having problems with it - it stalls suddenly sometimes, perhaps the needle is stuck or something.
I suppose it needs to be rebuilt, which sounds interesting (though I've never done it), but I'm also considering getting another carb which might be more friendly to my general-purpose needs (and might be more fuel efficient!)
. Someone suggested a quadrajet to me, but I'm not sure what that is - is it a brand name or a style? Is it a general term for a four-barrel?
I'm also curious about edelbrock - i've been reading these posts, and i hear a lot about the Edel 600. Is this good for "normal" use?
I also read something about considering the difference in primary and secondary sizes... small primaries with big secondaries being better for fuel consumption or something.
Are there any good websites for this kind of research? (perhaps I should just do some google footwork for that one.)
thanks very much!
