Even in my financial distress, within the next couple paychecks I will send a contribution , and when I get home look for a few items for auction to assist in this cause.

Many members on the board here are new enough to have not heard of the fight Jon put forth in Australia and their problem they had with just keeping their bulletin board up and running due to a free speech issue- and they (both Jon and the OZ rodders) WON

Don't let a few immoral rotten tomatoes like those at SB win this fight, fight for the right of all Hotrodders to freely post their thoughts and experiences on the internet or wherever, especially here in the US where we are "supposed" to have the right to free speech- it doesen't specify how or where we are able to express that right.

Sheriff Joe has his niche, but let them serve some time with ME in my JOB, Let them serve the term I have of being away from my family 95 percent of the time, living in conditions that most municipalities across the US have laws AGAINST making your PETS live in, and dealing with the variations of the same law in several different States, and knowing the differences in those laws. How would YOU stay warm in the winter- living in a vehicle in a State that does NOT allow you to IDLE your vehicle for more than 5 minutes?????

I also have to know more specific laws within different States relating to the hazardous materials I occasionally haul. Knowing the specific rules for even different amounts of the same thing I carry also brings up issues, like transportation of bulk containers not allowing me to take certain routes.
My truck has at least 40 permits from at least 35 States and 4 Canadian Provinces, and I have to check to make sure none have expired before hauling specific things into those areas.

I even got a traffic citation last week in Utah for "going too slow", that I have to look into fighting.

Let them live the life of an over the road trucker, driving a company owned truck that they cannot modify. Even a couple fellow moderators have stated they could not do what I do.

PayPal on the way. I dislike people that do not understand the concept of free speech.

Just in case it's not clear: You do not have to have a PayPal account in order to make a donation through the PayPal link that Jon posted using a major credit card.

I've never had a PayPal account (likely never will) and had no trouble making a donation using my credit card. Thought I should point this out as I'm pretty sure there are others out there who don't have and don't want a PayPal account.

Hey, Grouch, any idea what percentage PayPal gets from their service?

No Hi-Jack intended

Not until you asked.

I found:

https://www.paypal.com/us/cgi-bin/w...erminal-outside
http://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/websc...en/fees-outside
https://www.paypal.com/us/cgi-bin/w...ro-fees-outside

I could be reading those wrongly, or they might not even apply, but it looks like a little under 4% may be eaten up in fees (fixed monthly + per transaction). Having over 96% of a donation actually going to the cause seems like a pretty good pass-through. It appears to depend on the type of account, how long the account has been active, the volume, and other things. Not a simple fee structure, at all.
