I believe this borders on advertising since the poster is connected with the web site referenced and that web site is in the business of selling photos etc.

They weren't intended to be posted for advertising. I actually don't even sale the prints anymore.

This is getting out of hand. So what are you going to do next, when a guy finishes painting his own car and he posts pictures cause he is happy about it are you going to jump him to because somewhere someone might just want to pay him to paint another car? After all that could just be advertising. Or maybe the next guy that builds himself a chassis, he wont be able to post images to just on the off chance he might sell one some day. Give a rest. You guys really know how to welcome people to this site.

I agree. I just signed up to this site to share some of my photos. I actually removed the section from my website stating that someone can buy a print if they like. I even removed the direct URL from the post. This site kinda sucks if someone can't even share their passion of hotrods without someone having a fit about "advertising."

I don't even want to be part of this site if the moderators are going to give people crap about links to user sites. There are plenty of other boards out there that arn't that picky. Later guys, it's been a fun 5 min.

Oh, and Centerline, were you the one that took that pic of the concept Dodge Charger that's in your profile and put the website URL of hotrodders.com on it? Because I do believe that is in violation of copyright which is a LOT more serious then posting a link to ORIGINAL art work.

Both of you guys are pretty new and obviously haven't read the forum's advertising policy. This policy applies to anyone and everyone who posts here. It's pretty simple. If you have a commercial web site and reference that site in your posts, that is considered advertising your own stuff. Please read the rules, perhaps that page will explain the policy better.

Bottom line is if we let one person do it then everyone here, and there are a LOT of people who are in business, will expect to be allowed to advertise. Sorry if I ruffled some feathers but bkuepper's web site is clearly set up to "sell" his photographs. If it had been a personal site where is pictures were just available to see it would have been totally different.

Seeing as he doesn't actually say his site thereand you have to go to the profile to find it i don't see whats so wrong.

Great work anyways. Have you edited any of the photos on a computer or photoshop before framing them?

Not as the post is viewed now but when it was originally made his web site was referenced at the bottom of the post. That is advertising.

Centerline is correct.

The original post contained a link to his website. His website is a commercial website.

We don't allow business or website owners or representatives to post contact information (phone numbers, business email addresses, urls, etc.) for their businesses on the board.

More info on this policy is here: http://www.hotrodders.com/help/board/business.html

bkueppers -- in the future, keep in mind that it's perfectly OK to say: "check my profile for the url to my website". We're just trying to keep business contact information out of actual board posts.

To suggest an addition or alteration of the policy, feel free to post in the Site Suggestions and Help forum.

I try to see both perspectives here, I doubt bkueppers was trying to sell prints, yet I understand we have a strict advertising policy that I personally see a a bit on the strict side, but when it was looser it was frequently abused so I have no choice but to agree with Jon on his decision to crack down on it, and kudos to Centerline for detecting the violation.

bkueppers, I hope you understand this, what I do is post pics in the HR.com photo gallery and post a link to the pics in there. That keeps any "he's advertising" things away from me. Just a hint.

EDIT: You already did that. Good man.
