Red face stripped crank snout

I just broke the bolt off in the end of my crank. I drilled it out and re-tapped it but the threads are a bit shakey. I know it is supposed to be torqued to 60#. If I get it to 50# and loctite the piss out of it will it be alright or should I redrill it and tap it to the next size bigger. I feel like a total dunce for doing this and am hoping someone else out there has had a similar experience and knows what to do. Thanx, Kevin

I did the same thing on a 350sbc. I just drilled and tapped it for a 1/2 x 20 bolt. It is the same as a big block size now, but it works fine. Just make sure it is fine thread.

DID THE SAME THING. i got about 40 pounds on mine. so far it's been together 6 months and holding. i too, lock-tited the @#$#out of it. i was told to tap it but was lazy. i did buy a tap and a bolt, but hell, the earlier chebbies didn't even have bolts there, did they? of course if it comes off i'll be lookin for a radiator.
