Stroker fe engine

ok so i'm debating on doing a build with a 390 fe block. I just want to know if anyone has any better ideas..
i'm going to do a stroker from survival motorsports
.030 over dished pistons for 9.8:1 compression
72cc heads ( dunno which ones would be good)
Scat 6.700 I beam rods with ARP 8740 bolts
Moly rings, Main and rod bearings, Internally balanced
4.250 stroke eagle ductile iron crank
from what i inquire this would make this a 445 stroker?

I'm wanting to know what cam to run.
I really like the big lopey idle
planning on running a hyd cam
this is going to be in a 76 3/4ton highboy 4x4 camper special 4 speed

Also would like to buy a set of aftermarket heads that are assymbled and ready to install with the cam. without having to do much if any modifications.

would like to keep this build under 6k
the stroker kit runs 2k
so 4k left for heads and misc.

one last thing am having a hard time finding long headers that will fit this truck.

sorry about all the rambling and if you do read the whole thing thank you for your time

It looks really good except for one thing.
Choosing a cam because you like a lumpy idle is kinda.... Well, not really productive.

Choose a cam that runs in the power band you want the engine to run at.

You have a big heavy truck. You are going to want a lot of low end torque. Build the engine with some low end, and you will be happy with it. Build a high RPM engine that has a lumpy idle, and you may as well buy two fans to put on the back of the truck so you can get away from your own exhaust.

If you can get a 428 crankshaft. you can build a 410 with the block you have.

I wouldn't ask those questions here, go to Network 54,

create an account, get a login name, then go here...

Barry Rabotnic (Survival Motorsport owner) monitors the site, as do a few thousand FE freaks...
