Stromberg Carburetor Orientation

I'm building a "nostalgic" (but not a replica) sprint car for vintage events. The engine is to be an in-line 6, with 6 individual intake ports. I'd like to use 3 Stromberg 97s or Holley 94s, rotated 90 degrees from the usual orientation (i.e., with one barrel in front of the other, rather than beside), with each barrel connected individually to a port, preferably without balance tubes. Anyone see any problems with this? Is there any reason to locate the float bowls on either the right or left side, for running on counter-clockwise ovals?
